December 2010 Dear Fraters and Little Sisters of Xi-Omega: As some of you are aware, the current chapter and house finances are in dire straits. We need you to carry your bricks in three big ways. The first is to get involved with the Alumni Association and help us reconnect with the 700+ alumni associated with our chapter over the last 37 years. The second is to be more involved with the chapter as they struggle to stay afloat during the two university's two year suspension. And the third is to help financially in order to Save The Barn.
XOAA Alumni Association: Our Xi Omega Alumni Association has been re-chartered and is beginning to hold more activities. We recently had over 100 people tailgating at both the Boise State game at FedEx Field and at the 30th TKE House Anniversary and Reunion in Blacksburg. Our plan is to organize more events to include:
· Regional gatherings in January 2011 · RCB Reunion in Blacksburg on April 2, 2011 at the Days Inn (former Holiday Inn near house) · Fall Cookout and Pig Roast at the house in September 2011
Unfortunately, we only have current data for about half of our alumni. We need you to:
· Update your information in the alumni directory at XOAA.org. · Join the TKE Xi Omega Alumni Association Facebook page.(page) · Provide contact information with brothers and little sisters with whom you are still in touch. · Reach out and find your pledge brothers (and little sisters). · Tell us what sort of events you would be interested in attending and/or help organize. · Attend or plan an event in your city.
Xi Omega Active Chapter: Due to several rules violations, the chapter has been put on a two year suspension by Virginia Tech. XOAA Officers along with the Blacksburg Alumni of TKE (BATI) Board (which owns the house) are working together to help keep the chapter together with limited activities until the suspension is lifted in the Fall of 2012. You can help by being involved and supporting the alumni association (see above), visiting the house when in Blacksburg, and providing financial support (see below).
The TKE House (aka "The Barn"): Our 7-year commercial balloon mortgage is coming due in June. Current cash flow is not sufficient for a full refinance. Consequently, we have until April 2011 to save the house from sale or foreclosure.
Eric Ide (#229) is leading this incredibly crucial fundraising effort. See his "What's going on With Xi Omega" slide show for details. He and other alumni will be reaching out to you soon to see how you can help. We need volunteers to: · Click here to Buy Bricks to raise money for saving the house. · Click here to "Help With Ongoing Expenses" by donating smaller amounts monthly. · Talk to your pledge brothers or any other brothers and/or little sisters you know about helping.
